Description

Take a deep dive into intersectional feminist topics with the Women’s Center's Brave Space Forums!

This year, our Brave Space Forums will have topics under the theme “COVID Crossings.”

For our November Brave Space Forum, we will discuss the ways the US has long discriminated against Asian peoples and how the wave of anti-Asian prejudice following COVID-19's appearance around the world is not particularly new. Rather, the growing number of hate crimes and bias incidents impacting Asian communities are echos of a long history of prejudice and systemic oppression. In addition to the historical significance of anti-Asian biases in the US, we will explore how COVID-19 has inspired further violence and how it has impacted individuals, families, and communities. We will conclude this event by building intervention skills and discussing what anti-racist allies can do to push back.

We will be meeting via Google Meets. The link to this event can be accessed in the event information above.
