Description

This event is a Returning Women Students monthly workshop AND Returning Women Students Scholarship Application Information Session all in one!

The first 15 minutes of this workshop will cover Returning Women Students 2020-21 Scholarship Application information. Beginning around 12:15pm, Dr. April Householder will provide critical information and resources on crafting the perfect personal statement. This information can be used to help students write their scholarship essays in addition to being a valuable resource for students applying to graduate school or working on cover letters.

For more information on the Returning Women Students Scholarship:

Undergraduate students over the age of 25 and with at least 60 credits may be eligible to apply. Scholarships application is attached and/or can be downloaded by clicking the website link.

We are encouraging all students who are considering applying for a scholarship to attend an information session. You can learn more about each specific scholarship, hear about the scholars program requirements, and learn important dos and don'ts of submitting your application.

Each year we receive many applications with errors that impact a student's eligibility - don't let this be you!!

Two drop-in information sessions will be offered in the Women's Center:
*The info session on 2/19 also includes an extended presentation focused on crafting personal statements provided by Dr. April Householder. This extended session will be very valuable for crafting the required essays for the scholarship and is highly recommended!

If you cannot attend one of the sessions in person, a live-stream option will be available via Facebook Live. Please contact the Women's Center for more information.

Information sessions are a casual opportunity to ask questions. A brief overview will start the session before the rest of the time is opened up for questions. You may drop in and go as needed after the initial overview.

This year's scholarship deadline is Monday, April 6, 2020.

For more questions, contact the Women's Center director, Jess, at womenscenter@umbc.edu. Please also visit the scholarship announcement postvia myUMBC.
