Description

If you are interested in pursuing a teaching career (as faculty or any kind of teaching), earning a teaching certification is a great way to help you get a job and succeed in helping your students learn.

UMBC has its very own Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) that offers nationally recognized teaching certificates at three different levels. This is FREE for graduate students and postdocs!

Come hear from our new CIRTL director, Dr. Jamie Gurganus, who will be sharing information about the certification, levels, activities and answer any questions from the participants she can. Join us!

NOTE: Students from ALL disciplines can be certified.

Please register using this link.

What is CIRTL?

CIRTL is a network of about 40 universities which have joined together to support and improve undergraduate learning by improving the training graduate students, especially (but not limited) in STEM fields, receive on teaching. Teaching-as-research uses research and research methods to support effective teaching. The programming is not only available on UMBC's campus, but also online offered by other member institutions. This is a nationally recognized program! Faculty and staff at other schools will likely be familiar with the program and the meaning of CIRTL certification.
