Biological Anthropologist Miguel Vilar will discuss how anthropologists use DNA evidence from ancient and living populations to better understand human origins, evolution, diversity, and history.
11am - The Value of Anthropology in Business
Matt Artz

Business Anthropologist Matt Artz will discuss how anthropology is used to address business problems and how anthropologists add value. A case study will be presented to articulate how anthropology is connected to business, engineering, and design.
2pm - Language and Identity: “You are what you speak … or are you?”
Amelia Tseng, Ph.D.
American University
Sociolinguist Amelia Tseng will explore the relationship between language, heritage, and identity with the goal of leading an empowering discussion with connections to audience members. Dr. Tseng will highlight heritage languages, bilingualism, code-switching, race, ethnicity, age, gender, education and socioeconomic status.
