Welcome and Welcome Back!...
LLCers,
I want to welcome you all to a new semester and hope that you are returning to campus refreshed and excited about the academic year. As I ponder on the challenges we face in our city, state, and world, I remain encouraged by your presence and energy, your determination in your work, and your commitment to our intellectual community. From the many places, interests, passions, and perspectives you bring, you found this marvelous Program and we are thankful for our future that you are with us.
I look forward to seeing each of you as classes begin next week. There is excitement abound with the numerous accolades our faculty, alumni, and students are receiving. I will share more in our upcoming fall newsletter, Of Note. LLC will also search for a new faculty member to join us in Fall 2020. Be on the lookout for the myriad ways you can assist us because your insight will ensure we select the ideal candidate.
To those who are just joining us, you found an amazing place to become a budding scholar/researcher/teacher with the core and affiliate faculty with whom you will work. To our continuing students, I want to encourage you to persevere. This doctoral process is a journey that often feels more like a marathon and not a sprint. But we are here as resources to assist you, empower you, and champion you. “We want you done” as our success depends on yours.
Lastly, please consider joining us at our Welcome Reception on Tuesday, 27that 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts & Humanities building (PAHB) on the 2nd-floor lobby of the concert hall. We would enjoy hearing about your summer work and escapades.
Until then, welcome and welcome back!...Moffitt
