UMBC Alternative School Break Trip Story in Carroll...
Full Title: UMBC Alternative School Break Trip Story in Carroll County Times
70 students spent at least part of last week immersing themselves in service, social action and hands-on learning on UMBC’s Alternative School Break trips. There were six trips in all: to assist seriously ill children at Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, Florida; to support Patch Adams’ mission to transform medicine through love and fun, at the Gesundheit Institute in Hillsboro, West Virginia; and to explore environmental sustainability, and the experiences of people who have become homeless, refugee immigrants, and people with developmental disabilities in and around Baltimore. From what I’ve heard from some of the participants, their investments of time paid off in lifelong memories and new perspectives.
The Carroll County Times published a front-page story and photo about one of the trips. Here's a link to the story.
