Of Note: LLC Students and Faculty Present at SECOL

Recently, several LLC students and faculty member Dr. Christine Mallinson were invited to present at the 85th Southeastern Conference on Linguistics (SECOL) at Virginia Tech. SECOL is dedicated to the advancement of the study of language in all its aspects, and their annual conference provides a venue for SECOL members to read and discuss scholarly papers. 

Dr. Christine Mallinson and LLC students May Chung (Cohort 17), Antione Tomlin (Cohort 19), and Forrest Caskey (Cohort 21) presented on the usefulness of Wikipedia Engagement in scholarship with a presentation entitled #Lingwiki: Wikipedia Engagement in Promoting Public Scholarship in Linguistics as part of a series on pedagogy and public engagement. 

Jon Inscoe (Cohort 19) was invited to present his paper "Skyrim is for the Nords!": Linguistic Difference and White Male Nationalism in a Role-Playing Game as part of a series on language use on social media and in video games.
