Announcing: the UMBC Financial Literacy Enthusiast Awards

Trade your best financial advice for a $500 prize

The UMBC Financial Literacy Enthusiast Awards recognize students that exemplify, understand, and promote financial literacy.  Winners will receive a prize in the form of a direct deposit to their Red Campus Card, to be used at the Bookstore, any campus food vendor, vending machines, pay-for-print locations and community partners (listed here).  

Prizes:
1st - $500 red card deposit
2nd - $250 red card deposit

I’m confused. Where can I use the prize money again?
Anywhere that you can use your red card. For example:
-the Bookstore
-Campus food vendors like Outtakes, True Grits, and Salsaritas
-Paying tuition and fees on myUMBC or at SBS
-Campus vending machines
-Print stations
-Local partner businesses

Rules for Entry:
To enter the contest you have to share your best financial literacy advice. This can be done in any way that is visible to other people. You could:
·  Make a Facebook post
·  Make a series of Snapchat stories
·  Post on Instagram
·  Make a myUMBC post

Once you've shared your advice, send it to financialsmartsawards@gmail.com for official consideration. Just send a screenshot of the post, or send us the file if your entry is a video. 

Submitted content must not contain illicit material, including but not limited to foul language, drug use, and violence. Keep it PG.

When are entries due?
March 1st, 2018. 

How are winners determined?
A handful of finalists will be hand-selected by a panel of judges. Those entries will then be posted to myUMBC, where the campus community will vote on the best entries. The winners will be the entries that make it past the judges and receive the most community votes from students, staff, and faculty.

Who are the judges?
Members of the UMBC Financial Literacy and Education Committee.

What are the judges looking for?
Entries that are creative, offer practical personal finance tips, and promote financial literacy.
