Real People Profiles: James David Krasnansky
Hometown: Ellicott City, MD
Q: How long have you been at UMBC?
A: I have been at UMBC since Fall 2007, and I will graduate in spring 2012. I was a Music Major, emphasis on music education, but my Sophomore year I changed to a B.S. in Mathematics
Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?
A: I am the Treasurer of the UMBC Mama's Boys and the President of UMBC Tea Empire.
Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?
A: We apologize for interrupting your studies, James is singing while walking by.
A: As a member of the Mama's Boys, we do a decent amount of travelling, in and out of state, and perform almost non stop. Getting to represent my school with something I am good at, with friends who enjoy it as much as I, is the thing I enjoy the most. Making sure our finances are straight, so that we get to put on a good show, out of town and for the good people of UMBC, is the role that lets me do that, so that would have to be the role I most enjoy.
Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?
A: Don't skip class to play THAT MMORPG. Don't sit in your room all day with friends you knew from before. Get out and make new friends. Join a sports team, rush a frat, go shoot some pool in the gameroom or have a beer at Flat Tuesdays with the local trivia nuts if you are over 21. A lot of people just sit in their dorm rooms constantly, and miss out on all that is going on at this school.
A: I am a big fan of being as big a nerd as I can be, and reveling in it. Graphic novels, Movies, fiction, fantasy, tabletop, video games, you play it, I am probably interested. Also a big fan of our Math Department here at UMBC. There are some fantastic professors there. Also, the sky-walks between AC-Row, they are your best friend in a Rain/Snow/Hail/Wind/Heat Storm which, being UMBC, we see all the time.
Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?
