Real People Profiles: Angela Koomson

I’m asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.

Name: Angela Koomson

Hometown: Burtonsville, MD

Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: Two semesters (this is my second semester)

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A: Student Assistant, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, American Chemical Society, Pre-Med Society

Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus? 

A: I listen, offer help and advice when I can and share ideas. I am a friend to everyone.

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A: I love working in the Office of Financial Aid! It’s a whole new different way of helping people! Its fulfilling to see an aspect of a person’s life change because of the hand, ear or heart you offered to them when they needed it.

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A: There is no defined level for achievement or success. Whatever you have attained of acquired can be improved. Don’t settle, STRiVE for excellence!

Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"

A:  God! He is everything to me!...  And (drumroll please) Chemistry! Well its never been easy but it totally makes a lot of sense to me. I love anything chemistry. Makes me smile.

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A: There are so many great resources and people to help you be whoever you want to be on campus! All you have to do is search! Its overwhelming how UMBC makes me really know that there is a bright future after college. Its so real I can almost touch it.
