Real People Profiles: Charles Mason III

I’m asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.

Name: Charles Mason III

Hometown: Baltimore, MD

Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: I have only been here (at umbc) for One complete semester and I am working on my second one currently.

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A: I work at the I/O Bureau in the Fine arts Building and I am currently assistant to treasurer of SGA.

Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?

A: The role of a student learning and gaining knowledge each day

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A: I enjoy learning from each and every person I come into contact with. Unlike some individuals I believe that everyone has a story, but not everyone has someone to tell it to. So I guess i'm that guy, the one that you can talk to...lol

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A: That it doesn't matter who you are, where your from and how much money you have, if you don't put the work in and go above and beyond what is just expected of you in class you won't achieve your full potential.

Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"

A: Education (maybe one day it will be free)...lol, the ravens, and lacrosse

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A: Going to strive would be my story, originally going in I didn't know what to expect and if I would even like the people that were there. After one week with each and every person there though I can stand here and say I don't know what I would do if I didn't meet each and every one of them. A bond unlike any other was made there and I am proud to say that everyone of those "STRIVERS" is looked upon as my second family.
