News about Critical Heritage Studies

For those interested in this growing field

Critical Heritage Studies (CHS)  is a dynamic and evolving field of research and inquiry. In general terms, CHS can be viewed as a movement to examine and interrogate the power dynamics of defining, making and using ‘heritage’ from the local to global levels.

The following events may be of interest for most students in the LLC program:

1) Registration is open for the 4th International Conference on Intangible Heritage - September 21-23. Please visit the conference's website for more information

2) Proposals for the 3rd Biannual Conference of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies is still open. If you are interested in participating in the series of sessions on CHS in North America, please contact Dr. Michelle Stefano ms@umbc.edu.  Dr Stefano has proposed a session that includes include a diverse range of perspectives, and to provide an opportunity for articulating the connections, overlaps, and differences between current work in N. America and the critical heritage studies discourse.

You can find information about the conference here

3) If you would like to receive the ACHS ICH Researchers Group newsletters and updates, which is a global listing of conferences, funding opportunities, inquiries, etc., please email Dr. Harriet Deacon: harriet@conjunction.co.za
