UMBC Digital Media Lab & Equipment Loan Information

AOK Library Digital Media Lab

The DML is located on the second floor of the Library near the Honors College. The DML provides the UMBC community with access to A/V equipment as well as space to record. In addition, the DML has dedicated computer workstations for working with audio and video files. These work stations include access to Final Cut Pro and other software needed for audio and video editing.  A full description of the equipment and spaces is available on the DML site.

The DML equipment can only be used in the DML space. Manuals and Quick-start guides are available for students to use. The DML assistants can provide basic instruction but overall the DML is self-serve.

If anyone will be sending students to the DML to complete particular assignments, please feel free to let Jodi Hoover know ahead of time.

With funding provided by the AOK Library, DoiT and the New Media Studio the DML has been able to start a modest equipment loan program.  Equipment ranging from DSLR cameras to portable projectors is available for check out for three days at a time.  Equipment must be checked out from and returned to the Library Media desk. A full description of the available equipment and the loan policy is available on the site.

The DML will not be adding new types of equipment to the program but they will be adding 4 more Canon T3i's and 3 more tripods.  However, if you have suggestions for the types of equipment you'd like to see in the future, you could contact Jodi Hoover.

As of now, the DML is not providing a loan service for personal equipment on reserve for a specific class.

Please visit the DML website for more information.
