Real People Profiles: Anthony Jankoski

We're asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.

Name: Anthony Jankoski

Hometown:
Silver Spring, MD

Major:
English major, History minor

Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: I am in my third year at UMBC.

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A: SGA Treasurer.

Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?

A: I manage the funds of the Student Government Association.

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A: I like having the knowledge and ability to help students who want to be involved with student government get their foot in the door and become more deeply involved on campus. It is personally fulfilling to me to be able to help people who want to have a positive impact on our community.

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A: Always treat other people the way you would like to be treated. It sounds like a lesson from Kindergarten, but being around individuals who I have an active working and collegiate relationship with has shown me that it is essential to show others the courtesy and appreciation I would like to receive.

Q: What is one way you have worked with others to make a positive difference at UMBC or in another community?

A: One time, my friend and I printed out an aquatic animal for every door on our residence hall floor, colored them over winter break, and came back early to the dorm and put them on every door in the hall. It really brightened the place up and added to the fun of living in a residence hall among peers.

Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"

A: Lil Wayne.

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A: My favorite spot on campus is the valley across the street from the West Hill Apartments. I like to sit on the hill that sits on top of the valley on warm, clear nights and stargaze.
