Job Description:

Provide for the effective flow of students through the English Institute (EI).  As a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Designated School Official (DSO), coordinate all aspects of international student inquiries and application process. 
  Act as the EI’s primary contact with the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and remain informed on updates in government regulations and procedures pertaining to international students.  Work closely with the Associate Director of Admissions, International to ensure college compliance with all federal, DHS, U.S. State Department, and Maryland State laws, regulations, reporting and tracking requirements, including the implementation and enforcement of all laws and regulations related IIRAIRA, U.S. Patriot Act, and the Enhanced Border Security Act’s laws and regulations, and the Student and Exchange Visitors Program and Information System (SEVIS), related to the admission and enrollment of international (F1) students and other international citizens in EI  programs and coursework.  Issue all appropriate federal documents.  Assist with the development and subsequent implementation of revised, new or additional policies and procedures to ensure college compliance with all appropriate federal and state laws.  Assist with the overall course development and registration process each semester. Provide counseling and academic advising needed for EI students beginning with inquiries to placement through completion.  Assist with the marketing and advertising efforts for the EI.  Assist with the overall programming and activities for the EI.  This position is critical to the college’s implementation of and compliance with all federal and state regulations related to the enrollment of international citizens and has many responsibilities that could deal with issues leading to liability for the college related to federal law and homeland security as well as well as issues that can create liability for prospective and current international citizens.

Requirements:

Formal Education, Courses, Training Programs and Experience:

Master’s Degree in education, social science, counseling, foreign language, or other related field or equivalent experience preferred.  Bachelor’s Degree acceptable with significant admissions experience.  International student admissions and/or counseling, experience required;   Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, procedures, documents, national organizations, publications related to international admissions, SEVIS, and MS Office Suite software applications required.  Knowledge and experience with microcomputer systems and website maintenance preferred. Demonstrated organizational skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.  Attention to detail and ability to understand and interpret federal regulations are required for this position.  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing ability to maintain strict confidentiality and regular attendance is a requirement of this job.  Bilingual skills are strongly preferred.

Knowledge of Operations, Systems, and Procedures:

Detailed knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations (including appropriate knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations) and college policies and procedures regarding the enrollment of international citizens, particularly those seeking student (F-1) visas. Knowledge of and authorization to use SEVIS, as well as student system screens related to SEVIS. Extensive knowledge of college policies, procedures and services. Detailed knowledge of the online student system. Knowledge of federal and state privacy laws and college policies for compliance.

Additional Information:

Hours Per Week: 37.5 with some evening and weekend hours
Compensation: $50,317 minimum annual compensation.  Plus excellent medical insurances, paid leaves and tuition reimbursement.  

This position is not overtime eligible.
