PicUMBC #9: What Makes People Turn Out the Way They Do?

by David Hoffman and Craig Berger

UMBC is full of treasures and oddities hidden in plain view. Here's one of them. Where were we standing when we took this photo, and what does it depict? Let us know by email at CoCreateUMBC [at] umbc.edu. Bonus points for sending us a photo of yourself at the location of this image (by email, or via the Co-Create UMBC Facebook page or Twitter (#PicUMBC)). The prize for being the first to identify the location of this treasure/oddity correctly (and specifically): You'll be celebrated in the next PicUMBC post.

PicUMBC #8, Revisited:

Once in a while a Co-Create UMBC post doesn't get enough MyUMBC "paws" to rocket onto the "Pawpular" posts chart, so not many people see it (for which we blame the ones who did see it but neglected to "paw" the post!). Such was the fate of PicUMBC #8, which was seen by few ... and solved by none, until Dylan Cook came through at the last minute. Here is the clue again:

This brick cylinder sits atop one of the two brick columns near the Administration Building that mark the entrance to UMBC's main academic corridor:

Dylan gets the win and the bonus points:

PicUMBC #7, Revisited:

We shared the answer to PicUMBC #7 when we posted PicUMBC #8, but are sharing it again for those who missed it. Here was the clue:

To find this image on the UMBC campus, you had to look up. That's what Patrick Hixenbaugh did, in the Commons Main Street Lounge:

Poulomi Banerjee found it too, and was happy about it:

So Patrick and Poulomi got all the bonus points. But the first person to identify the location correctly was Lois Sarfo-Mensah, so she was the PicUMBC #7 winner. Who's next?
