Real People Profiles: Chantelle Walsh

I’m asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.

Name: Chantelle Walsh

Hometown: Cumberland, Maryland

Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: 3 1/2 Years

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A:Panhellenic Council President, Recording Secretary for Phi Mu Fraternity for Women.

Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?

A:  I pretend to oversee the activities of PHA.

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A:  Getting to watch and help my fellow PHA women grow into strong leaders. I love being able to see first hand how the greek experience can encourage people to become the best they can be.

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A:
Being strong doesn't mean being the loudest person in the room or the last one to cry. To truly be a strong person is to be completely honest with yourself and with others, to have the courage to talk about your weaknesses and your darkest moments.

Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"

A: Working together. I have always been very independent but after my first few failed attempts at programming without asking for help I realized that it is just impossible. Whether you are studying, planning a charity event, or robbing a bank working as a team always leads to better results.

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A:
I once -almost- caught a squirrel in my lacrosse stick.
