Real People Profiles: Lindsey Barclay

I’m asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.

Name: Lindsey Barclay

Hometown: Oklahoma City, OK/ Clinton, MD

Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: This is my fifth year at UMBC.

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A:I am the Assistant Community Director in Harbor Hall.

Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus? 

A:  Assistant Community Director and graduate student.

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A:  I love interacting with students!  I get so much energy from the conversations that I have with them.  They are intelligent, witty, passionate, and hilarious!  They teach me something new each day.  I get inspired by them all the time. 

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A:
The most important thing I've learned at UMBC is to stay encouraged.  Sometimes life gets overwhelming.  But when I slow down and take it one step at a time, I remember that every day is a new opportunity to excel.

A:
Delicious food!  At the end of a long day, a big plate of something delectable always makes me smile 🙂

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A:
My favorite spot on campus is the Harbor Hall desk.  There is always something going on there!  The desk staff are friendly and helpful.  And sometimes, there's delicious baked goodies for everyone to enjoy.  I get a boost of energy every time I walk by.
