Real People Profiles: Madison Miller
We're asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.
Hometown: Hampstead, MD
Q: How long have you been at UMBC?
A: I'm a junior, so about two and a half years!
Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?
A: I work in Residential Life as a Desk Staffer in Erickson hall during the academic year and as a Conference Assistant over the summer. I'm also employed as a student staff member in the Women's Center. Lastly, I'm a sister of Phi Mu Fraternity for Women and a recent STRiVE'r!
Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?
A: Encourage students to get involved and find their "home" at UMBC.
Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?
A: II love being able to interact with people who are very different from myself. I am extremely proud of UMBC's diversity, as it has enhanced my college experience and given me many different perspectives of the world around me. I have found that UMBC students are extremely driven and have a lot of interesting and enlightening experiences to share.
Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?
A: Explore your interests and talents, and get involved! By getting involved on campus, I've made more friends, learned more about myself, and found a deeper motivation for both my academic and career plans. Your college career is what you make it, so why not make the most of it?!

A: Reading, running, baking, coffee, breakfast food, Arrested Development, the Outer Banks, Mumford & Sons, psychology
Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?
A: My favorite spot is probably the 2 mile loop around campus. It's perfect for my morning runs!
Additionally, I love being on campus over the winter and summer breaks. Though I love passing by many familiar faces on my walk to class every day, there's also something very peaceful about an (almost) empty campus.
