Real People Profiles: Ademayowa Balogun

We're asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.

Name: Ademayowa Balogun

Hometown: Burtonsville, MD

Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: In my 3rd Year, so over 2 years!

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A: Vice President of the UMBC Gospel Choir.

Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?

A: Leader, Encourager, Enlightener, Joy-Sharer, Care-Giver, Laugh-Bringer, Smile-Bearer, Risk-Taker.

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A: I actually thoroughly enjoy my role as a student. As much as I may complain about my workload and such, I like being busy. UMBC definitely does an excellent job at keeping my schedule constantly full of activity.

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A: Hmm, an excellent question... The most important thing that I have learned in college is that the actions I perform (or don't perform) today will affect me tomorrow. That being said, it is important to act wisely, in conduct, attitude and in daily interactions with others. You ultimately have to live with the decisions that you make, so live boldly and wisely.

Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"

A: Brandy. She's my FAVORITE singer!

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A: I sing! Quite a bit, actually! If you want to hear something from me, you should look at my youtube channel! My channel name is MusicThatBreathes and I put up covers every couple of months, fresh and from scratch.
