Welcome to a New Academic Year, Graduate Students!
Your voice, your community, your year—welcome to GSA.
Dear Graduate Students,
Welcome (or welcome back!) to UMBC. Whether you’re just beginning your graduate journey or returning to continue your work, I’m so glad you’re here. A new year means new challenges, new opportunities, and new chances to grow—and we in the Graduate Student Association (GSA) are excited to support you every step of the way.
My name is Aminah, and I have the privilege of serving as your GSA President this year. The GSA is your voice on campus, working to advocate for your needs, create opportunities for community, and make sure you have the resources and support to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Graduate school can sometimes feel overwhelming, but you’re not in it alone. I want you to know that I’m available to listen, answer questions, and help connect you with the right resources whenever you need. Think of GSA as your hub—a place to share your ideas, concerns, or even just to get involved and meet other amazing graduate students.
This year, I encourage you to take advantage of the events, opportunities, and networks we’re building. Come out, get connected, and let’s make this year one of progress, collaboration, and fun.
I’m looking forward to meeting many of you and working together to make our graduate community stronger than ever.
Warmly,
Aminah Amjad
President, Graduate Student Association
