Ready to be the voice of change and make a real impact on the graduate student experience at UMBC? The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is now accepting applications for Senate and Executive Council positions for the 2025–2026 academic year!

Whether you're passionate about student advocacy, want to shape campus policies, or simply love leading with purpose this is your moment to lead, represent, and inspire.

Executive Council:

  • President

  • Vice President

  • Treasurer

  • Secretary 

  • Chair of the Graduate Assistant Advisory Committee (GAAC)

  • Chair of the Grants Review Panel (GRPC)

  • Chair of the Graduate Experiences,Achievement and Research Success Committee (GEARS)

  • Chair of the Equity of Funds Committee (EoFC)


Senators: 16 positions

The Graduate Senate will be composed of 4 senators from each of the following 4 groups: 

  1. Student affairs: 2 from COEIT; 2 from CAHSS & CNMS

  2. COEIT (College of Engineering and Information Technology) 

  3. CNMS (College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences) 

  4. CAHSS (College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences) + Erickson School 

  5. The Senate Speaker will be elected from among the 16 elected Senators and will serve in a dual role: fulfilling the responsibilities of a Senator for their designated area, as well as running the Senate as a whole and serving as an Officer of the Executive Council with the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. These 5 positions are unofficially known as the “Cabinet.”
