Bone Marrow Registry Drive
UMBC is partnering with local non-profit 'There Goes My Hero' for a swab drive benefitting the National Bone Marrow Registry!Currently, it's less likely for a person of color to receive a viable donor from the registry when they are diagnosed with blood-related cancers. This is due to limits in donations from adults of similar ancestry. There Goes My Hero seeks to bridge this gap with their ‘Color the Registry’ initiative, which aspires to educate potential donors and recruit more life-savers to the registry.Registering takes only 10 minutes and includes just swabbing your cheek!
