Real People Profiles: Kevin Lee

I’m asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.

Name: Kevin Lee

Hometown: Chicago, IL

Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: This is my first year at UMBC.

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A: I am the Community Director for Chesapeake Hall!

Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?

A: I foster learning and help students make the most of their college experience.

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A: It's really simple, talking with students and hearing what they have to say is what I enjoy.  I love listening to the stories of where people come from and what they want to do in life.  Being able to build that relationship to help or just to listen to students has been rewarding.

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A:  I've learned a lot in college but I would say my top 3 are: 1. Get involved in something positive in college whether that is a club, fraternity/sorority, sports, service, etc.  2. Find that staff/faculty/administrator that can be your mentor and a good reference for more than just your academics.  3. Find that best friend and make awesome memories because it won't be the same after you graduate.

Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"

A: Traveling and eating good food!

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A: I have to explore more of the campus and have been told many places I need to go.  One place that I did like was the top floor of the library and being able to see the campus.  Also just the whole area by Erickson Field, the pond and The Commons is always lively especially when the weather is nice.
