Seeking Graduate Research Assistant

for grant-funded literacy research project

We are seeking an organized graduate student to serve as a Research Assistant to aid in a grant-funded research project. You will support the project by completing literature searches and reviews to identify factors impacting elementary literacy achievement, with the goal of identifying data sets to bring into a virtual reality (VR) environment for future teachers at the Imaging Research Center. You will be a part of a passionate, knowledgeable cross-disciplinary research team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting literature searches using appropriate databases
  • Summarizing and synthesizing results of literature review
  • Participation in research team meetings and ongoing project discussions
  • Detailed documentation of literature review process and organization of literature and findings
  • Research into the availability of identified data sets of interest

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop, organize, and maintain systems to manage projects
  • Experience within the field of education (school or community-based work with youth) and an asset-based orientation to students, families, and communities 
  • Experience with academic research (using databases, conducting literature reviews, managing data, etc.)

We are seeking someone for 10-15 hours per week for the semester, with the possibility of extending through the summer. Pay is $22/hour
