Graduate Assistant Opportunity - Qualitative Research

Full-Time Graduate Assistant (20 hrs/week) in Program Evaluation

 in the Office of Graduate Student Development & Postdoctoral Affairs 

Position Responsibilities: We seek a full-time graduate assistant (GA) to join our team and assist with multiple initiatives to enhance the recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs at UMBC and across an Alliance of University Systems. Specifically, we are seeking a GA who can assist with program evaluation for a cluster of related programs, such as PROMISE (supporting underrepresented graduate students in STEM), the AGEP PROMISE Academy Alliance (diversifying biomedical faculty through recruiting and training underrepresented postdocs) , and RISE-UPP (Reimagining STEM Equity Utilizing Postdoc Pathways, which expands the PROMISE Academy Alliance to more institutions and disciplines). The GA will provide administrative and/or technological support to the Internal Evaluator who is working on these grant-funded educational activities. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods will be used to collect and analyze data for program evaluation, implementation, and post-program reporting.

Qualifications:  You must be self-motivated, independent, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks at once.  Experience and ability to work with numerical data, statistical software (such as SPSS, Qualtrics, SAS, NVivo) and Microsoft Office products is required. This position also necessitates strong written communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to meet tight deadlines. A genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion is preferred.

Reports to: Robin Cresiski, Assistant Vice Provost for Graduate Student Development and Postdoctoral Affairs (50%) and Wendy Carter-Veale, Director of Social Science Research (50%).
