I’m asking some of the people you might encounter on the UMBC campus, including students, faculty, staff and alumni, to answer a few questions about themselves and their experiences. These are their responses.

Name: Chris-Anne Correa

Q: How long have you been at UMBC?

A: This is my third year at UMBC.

Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?

A: I am a Resident Assistant in Terrace/Hill Apartments and I am also the statistician for SGA.

Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?

A:  I enjoy being able to meet new people and to help them get involved and make them feel that UMBC is theirs. I like that I can encourage students to find a balance between academic involvement and extra curricular activities. By being involved, I love that I have the opportunity to make a difference and spread some warm smiles 🙂

Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?

A:  I came into UMBC very shy and I am going to leave as a transformed person. I have learned my strengths and weaknesses. I have learned to never give up and to always STRiVE 😉 to do my best! I have also learned that each one of us came make a difference. Failure and mistakes are not the end of the world. It takes courage to get back on the road and to head straight for your dreams! I have also learned to stay true to myself and be happy no matter what I run into!

Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"

A:  A good sense of humor, fun, jelly, chocolate, clouds, art, Zumba, my amazing family and friends (without which I could not have possibly gone far), and hard work!

Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?

A: I enjoy the events at Welcome Week a lot. Even though I'm a Junior, I go to most of the events every year. That's where I met most of my best friends during my freshmen and sophomore years. So Welcome Week brings back good memories for me. I enjoy Big Crazy Fun Night, the RESPECT talk by Maura Cullen, and Convocation the most! I absolutely loved Commuter Retreat when I was a commuter freshmen year and highly recommend it. Welcome Week is a great way  to meet new people and start the school year on a good note.
