Tamisha Ponder, keynote speaker at the FBI's observation

of National Black History Month

On February 23, 2022, Tamisha J. Ponder (LLC Cohort 19 and doctoral candidate) was the Keynote Speaker for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) observation of National Black History Month.

Co-presenting with her husband, Marcus, Tamisha delivered the keynote address for the 2022 National Black History Month theme, Black Health and Wellness.

Her presentation approached Black health and wellness from the lens of social determinants of health, racial battle fatigue, over/under medicalization of Black bodies, physiological responses to racism and community of care.

Tamisha's keynote address was heralded by some attendees as the "best" Black History Month keynote speaker that the FBI has seen in over 25 years. She received accolades from bureau agents and employees for speaking "our truth" in a tone for educational realization.

Tamisha and her husband Marcus are the founders and owners of Sankofa Yoga & Wellness Center and Sankofa Health Center, Urgent and Primary Care in Laurel, Maryland.
