Description

The Faculty & Staff Care Series is a space for and led by UMBC faculty & staff. This month’s virtual meet-up is an informal space to vent & exchange ideas with one another. Our topic for this month is Coping with Returning to In-Person Teaching and Service. This is an online event through Google Meets on Monday, May 3 from 12pm-1pm.

Returning to campus leaves us with many questions, thoughts, and concerns. Our intention is to discuss fears and hopes regarding returning to campus. Moving back to campus could bring up a spectrum of feelings: worry, joy, and the overlap. We may not feel ready or safe to return. We may be excited to join with our colleagues and students again. During COVID-19 and stay at home orders, the benefits and tribulations of distance learning and service came into the forefront of our minds.

Our societal expectations regarding work and labor challenged us to think of the way we wish the world to be. We invite you to discuss your thoughts regarding these topics as well as coping with returning to in-person teaching and learning.

Note, while not required, participants may be asked to read a short 5 min article(s) prior to the discussion which will serve as the foundation to our discussion. This information can be found below.

To RSVP, please click the "Going" button. Those who select “going” will also receive an email with the meeting link which is through Google Meets.
