Description

Bagels and Banter is our pop-up series where we discuss trending global, national, or population based topics in an informal casual atmosphere. This session will be focused on re-imagining what public safety looks like in light of the resurgence of national discourse and political action about police brutality.

During this session, we will examine what it means to "defund the police", outcomes associated with police reform initiatives like "8 Can't Wait", and the role visionary fiction can play in imagining new just worlds.

Disclaimer: Due to our virtual transition we can only promise some engaging banter, but bringing your own bagels or other snacks of choice are highly encouraged! 😉

All undergrads, grads, staff, faculty, and alumni are encouraged to attend! For any questions, please email Erin Waddles, Coordinator for Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion & Belonging at waddles@umbc.edu or i3b@umbc.edu
