In the context of the Nigerian-Biafra War, Nnaemeka will explore how women's bodies became a battlefield used to settle patriarchal and ethnic quarrels; the role of women in creating a sense of normalcy within Biafra under siege by Nigerian soldiers; and the lessons from the war that empower the lgbo people to move forward with the ideals of Biafra unmarked by territorial boundaries.

Organized by the Department of Africana Studies and co-sponsored by the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Office of the Provost, the Departments of Modern Languages and Linguistics and Intercultural Communication, and Health Administration and Policy, the Global Studies, and Language, Literacy and Culture, Ph.D Programs and the Dresher Center for the Humanities.
