Description

LOTUS (Leading Others to Thriving and Universal Success) Peer Mentoring Program is an identity-based peer mentoring program targeted at supporting undergraduate Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA) students at UMBC. Focusing on academic, social, and cultural development. With a primary goal of building cultural confidence through peer-to-peer connections. Students will increase their sense of belonging, build community connections, and have a deeper understanding of their racial and ethnic identity.


Housed in The Mosaic: Center for Cultural Diversity, LOTUS, primary focus is to promote the overall well-being of all students involved in the program as well as their successful acclimation to and persistence at UMBC. Mentors in LOTUS will have the opportunity to be internationally-certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.
