2017 Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement (CLDE) Meeting

Save the Date & Seeking Student Intern Applications by 11/1

We're excited to share that the planning committee has been diligently working to shape the vision for the 2017 Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement (CLDE17) Meeting organized by American Democracy Project, The Democracy Commitment, and the NASPA Lead Initiative to be held June 7-10, 2017 at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott in Baltimore, Md.. 

We hope you save the dates! Below you'll be introduced to members of the
planning committee and invited to nominate a student from your campus for one
of our three CLDE17 student internships. 

CLDE17 Planning Committee 

  • Fagan Forhan, Assistant Dean of K-12 Partnerships and Civic Engagement, Mount Wachusett Community College (Mass.).;
  • David Hoffman, Assistant Director of Student Life for Civic Agency, University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC);
  • Christopher D. Jensen, Director for the Office of Civic Engagement and
  •  Leadership, Towson University (Md.).;
  • Rhonda K. Lewis, Professor and Chair of the psychology department, Wichita State University (Kan.).;
  • Patrick O'Brien, Director, Civic Engagement, Student & Community Involvement, Frostburg State University (Md.);
  • Duane D. Oakes, Faculty Director for the Center for Community & Civic Engagement and Recreation Instructor, Mesa Community College (Ariz.);
  • Julian Rogers, Director of Community Partnerships, Cleveland State University (Ohio);

Student Intern Applications Due November 1st 

At this time, we are currently seeking applications for the three student interns that will assist in the development of this year's CLDE17 meeting. The process for selection requires the student to be nominated by a faculty or staff sponsor from their campus. Applicants should complete this application form (which includes a section for campus endorsement); the application should be emailed to Verdis Robinson, Interim National Manager of The Democracy Commitment by Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Please consider nominating a student!
