For those graduate students who haven't gotten their IRB and RCR certifications.

IMPORTANT: every person conducting research need to get an IRB certification

The Graduate School @ UMBC would request your certification when you apply for graduation. It is free for UMBC students.

We are inviting Timothy Sparklin, Research Compliance Officer from the Office of Research Protections and Compliance at UMBC, to do a step-by-step workshop for students to get their certifications as well as answering doubts they might have about the process.

The speaker will be present for about 30 minutes of the session, bring your questions or concerns, he will talk about how to create your user, what blocks do you need to do depending on the kind of research you are doing, etc., after that, everyone works on their own laptops to finish the certification online.

Please BRING YOUR LAPTOP AND CHARGER. We will provide the space, electrical cords, food, and drinks for those students who stay and work on their certification during the session.
