Of Note: Erin Berry and Mary Laurents

Dresher Center Residential Graduate Fellows 2017-2018


We are pleased to share with the LLC community that Erin Berry (cohort 15) and Mary Laurents (cohort 16) have been recently selected as the Dresher Center Residential Graduate Fellows (2017-2018).

Erin L. Berry will be working on her project: “They Ask, Why Do You Talk Like That; I Ask, Why Don’t You Want to Talk Like That?”: Analyzing the Online Speech and Identity Practices of Black Female Undergraduates. Her advisors are Dr. Christine Mallinson (LLC) and Dr. Jason Loviglio (Media and Communication Studies - UMBC).

Mary K. Laurents will be working on her project: “The Fracture of Upper Class Identity in the First World War and the Cultural Impact of that Fracture on Britain in the Interwar Period.” Her advisors are Dr. Beverly Bickel (LLC) and Dr. Daniel Ritschel (UMBC History Department).
