Decorate a shirt to add to our Clothesline Project Display

Location

On Campus : The Women's Center

Date & Time

April 4, 2017, 10:00 am11:00 am

Description

Students, faculty, and staff have made t-shirts describing their experience with relationship violence and sexual assault. On Wednesday, April 6th these t-shirts will be hung shoulder-to-shoulder on a clothesline for public viewing, as if the survivors are there themselves, telling us their stories.

The Clothesline Project gives voice to the experiences of survivors, victims, family, and friends who have been affected by violence. The Women's Center will be providing materials for those who identify as survivors or victims of violence to decorate t-shirts to add to our clothesline project display.

UMBC community members impacted by sexual violence are encouraged to make a t-shirt for the display prior to April 6th.
Supplies will be available in the Women's Center on the following dates:
  • Monday, April 3th from 10am-3pm
  • Tuesday, April 4th from 10am-4pm
  • Wednesday, April 5th from 10am-4pm
  • Thursday, April 6th from 10am-3pm

T-shirts made on or after April 6th will be shown at a smaller Clothesline Project display at Take Back the Night on April 13th.

UMBC community members interested in volunteering for this event are encouraged to email the Women's Center at womens.center@umbc.edu. Setting up the project takes lots of hands so volunteers are greatly appreciated!
